The Tannery circa 1820

The Tannery on Old Germantown Road in Warm Springs, Virginia was built as a tannery, a blacksmith shop and a relay station for people to exchange horses.  The area was also a prisoner of war camp for Hessians, mercenary soldiers hired by the English during the American Revolutionary war.
Nestled in the Allegheny Mountains, Warm Springs is a treasure trove of history and natural hot springs.
